Jaine Buse // A Moment in Time

A Moment in Time, mixed medium, 17” x 7” x 4”, December 2021.

The need for artists to reinvent materials found, to give pleasure to the viewer in new ways that has glimpses from the past is what sustainability is about. Creating objects that take from what was and repurpose to what can be. Keeping objects out of the landfill to create original works is pleasing to the eye and makes one reflect on memories of what was and creates thinking of what can be.

My works have moved from realism, to abstraction to Mixed Media over the past 10 years. My goal is to get the viewer to search for meaning and feelings as they examine the works. Paper, found objects and ephemera add the dimension to the story and the substrate can be wood, canvas, paper or torn up boxes. My artist’s journey continues to evolve as influenced by people, places and experiences.
