The Assembly

Lorena Krause // It's all "Us" there's no "Others"

It's all "Us" there's no "Others" , acrylic impasto and paint on paper paste on canvas, 36” x 30”.

I explore electronic routes, systems and structures, repetitive patterns and textures, boards and circuits that provide paths for energy to flow in networks that have created a new global landscape, a paradigm for personal, social and political change, a sign for our digitalized world and a symbol of the contemporary. While questioning the use of technology I take its all-around features as a language to bring up and talk about social subject matters. My work blurs the line between 2D and 3D. The protruding lines and tracks, grooved and dotted, in my work, relate to the idea of data transference, fluidity, growth, time and impermanence and represent human global connectedness. The red background represents the percentage of people that don’t have access to the internet but still are under its shadow. In this piece we’re all together as one in the universe.

I was born in Mexico City and moved to Canada in 2000 where I became a visual artist and recipient of the UFV 2010 “Outstanding Achievement Award”. I also have a Bachelor degree in Pedagogy, another in Special Education and a Specialization in Neuropsychology. In a desire to shift the painting aesthetic discourse away from its traditional objects and materials, my pieces often include 3D paint volume and mediums such as metal, glass, paper, pastes, impastos and photography. My work has been exhibited, reviewed and published in USA, Mexico, Korea and Canada.
