Inside the Curatorial Process
Demystify the exhibition process and connect directly with regional curators! In this roundtable session, local curators Paul Crawford (Independent Curator & Consultant), Clea Haugo (Kelowna Art Gallery), Wanda Lock (Independent Curator), Victoria Verge (Vernon Public Art Gallery), and Josh Willdigg (Lake Country Art Gallery) break down the inner workings of gallery submissions, curatorial decision-making, and professional networking in the Central Okanagan and beyond. Designed for artists at any career stage, whether you’re preparing your first gallery pitch or looking to expand your provincial reach, this conversation offers actionable insights to help you build meaningful, long-term professional relationships.
The Curator's Roundtable is the final event of the Alternator's 2026 Artist Development Series. This ongoing series equips emerging and mid-career artists with actionable tools to build sustainable creative careers alongside regional experts. Through these sessions, we aim to move beyond simple skill-building to help you build collaborative networks and gain the actionable tools needed to navigate your creative career with confidence.
Join us in the gallery for a dynamic panel discussion and Q&A covering portfolio submission best practices, studio visits, exhibition building, and navigating rejection with confidence. Gain a behind-the-scenes view of how curators select work, conceptualize exhibitions, and build collaborative partnerships with artists.
