October 13 – October 21, 2017

Intermission Series The Pasture, is an exhibition featuring selected works from University of British Columbia Visual Arts students Moozhan Ahmadzadegan, Patricia Leinemann and Kara Sikora. Works in this exhibition focus on creative exploration and experimentation, but perhaps unexpectedly, result in an understated, subtle and formally balanced visual experience.

Moozhan Ahmadzadegan’s work considers the boundaries of traditional painting, while Patricia Leinemann examines her process, which is filled with uncertainty and curiosity. Kara Sikora’s work investigates prevailing views of industrial materials, and the way context and process can complicate our understanding of matter. These artists were selected for the aesthetically formal nature of their work and the underlying exploration of experimental processes.

Intermission is a joint initiative between the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art and students of the Critical and Creative Studies Department at UBC Okanagan. It is intended to be a ‘show between shows’ at the Alternator to assist local art students gain practical work experience in a professional exhibition environment.
