I would describe my artistic practice as evolving and shifting, most importantly rooted in a commitment to bravely following my heart. This journey started with story telling through figurative mixed media painting almost ten years ago, which has more recently led to performance art and a recently activated Alternator member's gallery exhibition "Dear Diary" and then becoming a talkshow host for "Live at The Alternator". A yearning to create film, both live action and animation, has taken me back to University on a quest to develop the skills necessary to continue telling my stories, but with the rich sensory experience of multimedia . This artist's life I find myself embedded in has definitely been a poster child for the adage "never a dull moment" and continues to be complex and layered and far from over.
The Alternator gallery has been my rock. It was through a residency at the Alternator's studio 111 that I met Ali Bischoff and then attended the Similkameen artist residency which in turn sparked an interest in performance and animation. The Alternator was the springboard for my first taste of performance art in my member gallery exhibition and Lorna McParland was the one who opened the doors to give my dream of being a talkshow host a place to exist and flourish. I have additionally attended shows at the Alternator that have moved me to a state of suspended awe and inspired my own path forward. I truly believe that I would not be the artist I am without this small but mighty gallery and its amazing leadership and support staff.
