My current main practice is in printmaking, specifically screenprinting. I thoroughly enjoy the act of screenprinting as it is really a mix of media, digital and printmaking. Being able to create my images on the computer allows for endless possibilities, whether it's photo editing, digital and physical illustration or scanning in found objects, anything and everything can be made into a screenprint.

My current focus has been pointing a spotlight on my own personal bad habits, where I combine images, digital editing, and text to get my narrative across. I come up with my ideas first by thinking about myself and my habits, choosing one to focus on, then gathering my imagery and text to accompany the idea. I have also been drawn to a recurring theme of Utility poles and the connection/ information they give. They themselves are beasts that carry all the information in the world within their fine wires, but are we also the beasts for using them in this way?

Coming from a small town in Ontario, the first thing that I did when I came to Kelowna was check out the Alternator. Access to a gallery like this was something I had never had before, and as someone who travelled across Canada for the arts, it was something that was really needed. Its exciting to have the people you know have an opening and get all dressed up to support them, and its interesting to have new and unexpected people have art in the gallery as well. I think the Alternator has really given me a view into what life as an artist could be like and is an excellent house of opportunity!
