My practice involves finding visual elements that I am drawn to and further exploring those through pattern, form and repetition.
I received my BFA from UBCO in 2022, and I am primarily focused in painting currently, but I have also worked in printmaking and digital mediums. I am currently exploring portraiture with the addition of surrealist elements. I find it very enjoyable to fragment the depiction of a figure and find new ways to create odd portraits.
The Alternator holds a very special place in my heart as an important space for emerging artists. Once I graduated university, I felt daunted by navigating the gallery process as an artist, but the Alternator has made the approach very accessible and comfortable. I gained so much experience from my time spent at the gallery, both as a member and as staff. The community around the Alternator is invaluable l as I find I always walk away from events invigorated by the conversations alongside other members.
