Robert Jenkins // Going with the Flow

Going with the Flow, pastel, 21.5" x 24", 2020.

The painting is taken from the Wells, BC town dump, which contains refuse of all kinds from the residents there, as well as construction debris. There are 3 rather large piles: one, containing large metal objects such as appliances, shelving, automobiles and trucks, is the subject of this painting. Only a section of the pile has been painted, the embedded objects transforming from consumer items to decaying refuse. The painting does not judge what is happening, it merely portrays it..

I am a retired scientist, with an artistic bent. Since retirement from science, I have been free to pursue my art, mostly landscape-based, but moving more into abandoned mining sites, fallen buildings and rubble in general. I have exhibited my work in a number of galleries in the Okanagan (IKelowna and Penticton Art Galleries, Alternator Gallery (2 window shows), Vertigo Gallery, Peachland Art Gallery, Peachland Little Schoolhouse, Art Ark), as well as galleries elsewhere (Wells, New Denver, Williams Lake).
