Susan Bizecki // A Survey of the Facade

A Survey of the Facade, Mixed media and human skin, 28" by 40",April 2022.

This piece addresses the workings of the human bodies largest organ, the skin. Through a process of transfer, the artist uses tape to peel off the outermost layer of the epidermis, that which would have been lost and eventually shed. By placing these fragments on a dark background, the viewer is given a glimpse into the microscopic world and all it's unique lines and folds.

I am a local artist who graduated with a BFA in Fine Arts in 2006. My work covers a variety of mediums including drawing, sculpture, installation work and video. I have showcased my work both locally and in the United States in both solo exhibitions, group shows and site specific installations. I am currently working on a series of drawings inspired by the disappearing landscape of the ice bergs. These works have also inspired the piece I have created for this exhibition which looks at the landscape of the human body.
