Take an active role in shaping the future of civic leadership in Kelowna.
Cast your ballot in the upcoming municipal election: you can vote early during advance polling from October 7 through October 16, or make your voice heard on Election Day, October 17, 2026. Local decisions directly impact our city's livability, community amenities, infrastructure, and overall vibrant culture. To help our community make informed decisions at the ballot box, we have partnered with seven fellow local arts and culture organizations to form an ad-hoc, non-partisan sector collaboration called Culture Vote Kelowna.
What is Culture Vote Kelowna?
Our coalition includes:
Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art
Ballet Kelowna
Kelowna Art Gallery
Kelowna Museums
New Vintage Theatre
Okanagan Symphony Orchestra
Opera Kelowna
Rotary Centre for the Arts
Together, our organizations represent a broad cross-section of Kelowna’s non-profit creative sector.
To better understand each candidate’s vision for local arts, culture, and heritage, our coalition distributed a digital survey to all registered candidates running for Mayor and City Council. The survey asked candidates about key topics facing our city, including affordable access to programming, implementation of the Kelowna Creates Cultural Plan, creative infrastructure and space shortages, and the role of the creative economy.
As a non-partisan educational initiative, we are sharing all candidate responses verbatim. We do not endorse any individual candidates, nor do we provide commentary or recommendations on how to vote. Our goal is simply to provide an accessible platform for candidates to present their perspectives directly to you.
Why Your Vote Matters
In the last local election, voter turnout was roughly 30%—meaning only 1 out of every 3 residents voted (source: City of Kelowna Elections Page).
Municipal elections are often decided by small margins, yet local government decisions shape our day-to-day quality of life, community spaces, and civic services. Your participation truly makes a difference.
