I work mainly in abstraction and a loose form of figurative as a pathway to processing the complexities of being human. Visually the figures in my work exist between the primitive cave etchings and modern anime. I aim to underline a sweetly dark sensitivity which feels more real than the world around me. This painting looks at our ancient humans struggle with identity, allowing for allusions to loss, regret, escape, protection, faith, motherhood, mischief and story-telling. By representing life through unconventional physicalities and a signature distortion I attempt to create a visual emotional history of our times.
