Katelyn Nicholson // a thousand different experiences all at once

a thousand different experiences all at once, acrylic, gouache, and thread on unprimed canvas, 21.5” x 21.5".

This work primarily addresses my emotions and struggle with anxiety, an experience I believe is part of being human. I often use my poetry to be a launching point for my artwork and a way for me to process my big emotions. The experience of being in once place but pulled in many different directions due to the way my mind works is something that I experience everyday, is a huge part of my own humanity and imperfection, and therefore is an example of the human condition in my life.

I am an artist based in Vernon, BC, and I am currently studying fine art at UBCO. My art focuses on the human condition, duality, emotions, my experience with anxiety, and my personal life. My practice displays how I process these things through my visual art and poetry.
